Q: What are the benefits of hiring students?
  • Students and recent graduates are, by nature, bright, enthusiastic and energetic – businesses and individuals gain from getting access to high-level skills and a go-getting attitude, and from an injection of new ideas and fresh talent.
  • Cost savings – businesses and individuals can make substantial savings on the cost of recruiting full-time employees or professional contractors, and on all the related effort involved. Simply post a free ad and receive applications direct to your inbox.
  • Free marketing – if a student has a positive experience with a company or sole trader, they may become an excellent “brand ambassador” by telling their friends, family, and co-students about you and your business. They may also represent a potential future recruit, and you can take satisfaction in the knowledge that you are helping them gain experience, or at least make some money to help them through college and with college fees.

Q: I have registered as an employer or individual, but am not able to sign in to my account. What can I do?

If you are a new member and have just completed the registration process on the site, you will need to click on the verification link that is sent to the email address you provided. If you cannot find this link, try checking your Spam folder.

If you are not a new member and have forgotten your username or password, you can retrieve your details by visiting the login page and clicking on the “Forgotten Password or Username” link.

If you are still unable to sign in to your account after following the above steps, please contact us.

Q: When will my job listing go live?

We review all jobs before they go live, and endeavour to do so promptly, but there may be a slight, but not undue delay. Please ensure that your ad conforms to the guidelines immediately below to ensure rapid approval.

Q: What kind of jobs can I post?

We accept all sorts of jobs, and that is in the spirit of the site - we know that students have many skills and interests, and they may simply just want to make a few extra euro - so we accept everything from web development roles to making deliveries!

Please note, however, that we reserve the right to decline any job posting submission, and we do not accept any job adverts relating to the following areas:

-Positions which advocate or involve spam or bulk email marketing
-Escorts or adult work
-Pyramid selling
-Commission-only jobs
-Adverts which direct users to other job sites
-Medical trials
-Ads which advertise for modelling or acting jobs must include an agency email address (i.e. not Gmail, Hotmail, etc)
-Dangerous jobs (judged at our discretion)
-Jobs which are unpaid but involve excessive working hours

Also note that agencies must identify themselves.

All job postings are approved only if we deem them to be appropriate for the site in line with the above guidelines, and any other reason not mentioned here.

Q: Do I need to pay students and graduates?

We strongly encourage all job posters to offer some payment to a student or graduate, or at the very least compensate them for their expenses or offer them subsistence. While the right experience is invaluable, remember that you were a student or apprentice once, starting out, and how you appreciated some type of reward for your hard efforts. Today’s students and graduates are no different, and by using students and graduates you are already benefitting from their skills at a rate below the market standard. We ask that you be fair.

Q: How can I report abuse to FlexiStudents?

We take the misuse of our services very seriously. Please contact us to report any incidents or inappropriate blog comments.

Q: How much does it cost to use FlexiStudents? Are there any hidden charges?

The service is completely free. No hidden charges, no contracts.

Students

Q: What are the benefits of working part-time and freelancing?

  • Allows you to build up commercial experience and acquire and develop your business acumen – relevant work will enhance a student’s CV and will help improve your chances of landing that dream role after college. For a graduate, it can be a fantastic chance to land that ever-important 'foot in the door'.
  • Showcase your skills and talents - often students work in part-time roles that have no relevance to their degree, and are under-utilised and under-estimated  in regards to the skills that they have. FlexiStudents aims to change this!
  • Earn extra euro – this speaks for itself! You also learn how to manage relationships with employers if you are a freelance or contract worker - managing bills and invoices, managing expectations and communicating well etc, are all skills that will stand you in good stead in future positions.
  • Flexibility of working hours – some jobs and freelance projects can offer the additional benefit of working in your own time, where you get to decide your own hours (e.g. web development, writing jobs, etc).

Q: If I take on a job or freelance, what should I charge for my services?

Factor into account your experience, your knowledge, your skills, and also research the current market rates charged by professionals. Unless you have significant experience, charging at the market rate is unlikely to win you much work, so as a student or recent graduate starting out, look to quote below the market rate to secure work and experience, using your discretion.

Q: When I engage with a prospective employer or individual, what should I bear in mind?

As with every aspect of life, use common sense. Establish who you are communicating with and look for a company website and phone number. Never give out personal details unless you are confident about doing so. If you are taking on a paid job, agree in advance how and when you are to be paid. If it is a big job, consider requesting a deposit.
